Fremantle Ports is an economic powerhouse that plays a critical role in facilitating trade to drive a more prosperous Western Australia. With a diverse trade base, the Fremantle Inner Harbour handles almost all container trade for the State, as well as motor vehicles and equipment, livestock, break-bulk and liquid trades. The Outer Harbour in Kwinana is one of Australia’s major bulk cargo ports handling cement clinker, petroleum, LPG, fertilisers, and other bulk commodities. In addition to port operations, there is a focus on activation to create a vibrant waterfront tourism destination at Victoria Quay.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional leader who is passionate about making an impactful and meaningful contribution to Fremantle Ports and Western Australia’s economic future. The successful candidate will join Fremantle Ports at an exciting time as they commence on their newly refreshed corporate strategy with significant capital investment at all locations.
This newly created role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for leading the People & Culture division. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will collaborate to drive the transformation of culture and elevate employee value proposition and brand. You will guide the approach to organisation culture, capability development, enablement and engagement and deliver focus on investment in leadership, learning and technology to support transformation.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Contribute to the leadership of Fremantle Ports, including the delivery of the corporate strategy through development and implementation of strategic initiatives, while prioritising outcomes for the business.
- Develop and provide oversight of the people and culture strategy ensuring a focus on organisation development and establishing a culture that supports the strategic plan.
- Deliver a high level of engagement and visibility across internal and external stakeholders to motivate teams and foster trust, commitment and pride.
- Lead the provision of effective employee services including recruitment, talent management, development, recruitment and payroll.
- Champion the delivery of the employee value proposition.
- Provide oversight to the industrial relations program ensuring compliance with implementation and dispute management.
- Influence, champion and challenge the safety culture to improve safety outcomes.
- Prepare high quality papers for the Board and Sub Committees.
To be successful you will be a motivated and highly visible leader with significant experience in leading a People and Culture team. You will be a HR professional who has delivered HR strategies and initiatives in an industrial environment successfully through excellent leadership, engagement and technical skills. You will demonstrate a proven track record in achieving results, building organisation capability and cultural change. Leadership style will be key seeking an authentic, proactive, personable approach genuinely motivated to connecting with people and enabling others to develop and succeed.
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Commerce, Law or other relevant discipline are essential.
